Swansea City's squad is set to be altered once again in the summer.
Following Saturday's miserable 4-0 defeat to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, Russell Martin told WalesOnline that significant squad changes were likely in the next transfer window.
"I think so," responded Martin when asked if a summer overhaul is likely.
"We've changed a lot, I probably would have liked to have changed a bit more.
"We want to play a certain way and it requires a certain character and physical profile."
A total of nine players - including Dan Williams and Lewis Webb who are preparing for the 2022 season in Ireland - are out on loan at present, and each one will have talks with the coaching staff when they return to south Wales following the conclusion of the current campaign.
This is how they've fared so far and the likelihood of them being involved at Swansea next term.
Jordon Garrick
The 23-year-old scored his seventh goal of the season in Plymouth Argyle's 2-0 win over Gillingham on Saturday.
He has been a pivotal figure in the Pilgrims' bid to gain promotion from League One this term - operating as part of a front two while also having stints at right wing-back.
Steven Schumacher has put plenty of faith in Garrick, as did former boss Ryan Lowe before he switched to Preston North End, and the Swans loanee is fully benefiting from the game-time received at Home Park.
Verdict: Garrick will enter the final year his contract at Swansea when he heads back to Fairwood in the middle of this year, so you feel this summer will - one way or another - be decisive for the versatile attacker.
Ollie Cooper
The 22-year-old has flourished at Rodney Parade this season and has the joint-third most assists in League Two with nine in total.
Cooper has played in a range of different positions behind the striker(s), giving him full licence to bring creativity to the party.
Verdict: With Olivier Ntcham and Jamie Paterson available, it's difficult to see Cooper being a regular at Swansea in the short term. Squad position at best, you'd suspect.
Morgan Whittaker
The former Derby County man has netted two goals in nine outings for Lincoln City, the first of which came on his debut on January 8.
Whittaker has been deployed on the right side of the Imps' attack since joining the club last month which has ensured he can fully use his pace to his advantage.
Verdict: It's tough to see exactly where Whittaker fits in under Russell Martin, but having only recently turned 21 years of age, he can clearly become an asset and adapt his game to suit the current demands of the coaching staff.
Liam Cullen
With John Marquis leading the line for Lincoln, Cullen has been shifted around his new club's attack since joining the club during the winter window.
He scored his first goal for the club in a 1-1 draw with Wycombe Wanderers earlier this month after Michael Appleton described him as "everything you would want in a striker".
Verdict: Martin is a fan of Cullen, who clearly needed a run of games away from his boyhood club. A further loan next term can't be ruled out, but should Swansea's attack change, Cullen could be the man to benefit.
Steven Benda
The German has made eight appearances for Peterborough United, although they have won only one of those fixtures.
Such has been Posh's poor run of form, manager Darren Ferguson recently left the club.
Benda will no doubt learn a lot from adversity at the Weston Homes Stadium, and he still has a contract with Swansea until the summer of 2024.
Verdict: Game-time is exactly what Benda wanted and needed. With Andy Fisher brought in to be No.1, it's difficult to see Benda wanting to stay at Swansea next season, unless he's willing to fight for the jersey should Ben Hamer leave when his contract expires.
Liam Walsh
An injury restricted his impact early on in the campaign, and he has been unfortunate in having the likes of Flynn Downes and Matt Grimes ahead of him.
His recent comments clearly show he is disappointed over the lack of minutes he had at Swansea prior to joining Hull City on loan.
The central midfielder has played just 65 minutes for the Tigers though, so the early days at the MKM Stadium have not gone to plan.
Verdict: He's clearly a gifted footballer, but you feel, unless there's a key departure, that Walsh could struggle to make it at Swansea under the current set-up.
Brandon Cooper
The Welshman made his fifth appearance for Swindon Town at the weekend, with the Robins claiming back-to-back 3-0 wins to climb into the League Two play-off places.
Cooper has been operating as the left-sided central defender in a back four for Swindon more recently, although he has also featured as the middle figure in a back three - as he has done for the Swans.
Head coach Martin has been impressed with the defender's start to life at the County Ground, and Cooper himself will no doubt benefit greatly by playing regularly after being in and out at Swansea.
Verdict: Kyle Naughton won't be at Swansea forever, and Cooper fits the central position in a back three. Could well be an important squad player next season.
