Gardai reveal drugs and theft among reasons for 434 arrests over St Patrick's weekend in Dublin

More than 430 people were arrested by gardai in the capital over the St Patrick’s Day festival, it emerged on Tuesday.

Most of the cohort were detained for public order offences while a smaller number were taken into custody for drugs and theft offences.

The 434 arrests occurred in the Dublin Metropolitan Region (DMR) from March 16 to 20.
