Gardai issue urgent warning on increase in children being catfished online

A Dublin garda has said that the rise of children being catfished on apps like TikTok is “extremely worrying”.

Garda Damien McCarthy warned that children are being groomed and sexually exploited online every day.

Catfishing online is the process of luring someone into a relationship by means of a fictional online persona.
