A pair of ‘Good Samaritan’ gardai are being praised for an incredibly kind gesture as they came to the rescue of an elderly driver.
Garda Leonard and Garda McMenamin were leaving Monaghan Court House in Carrickmacross on Wednesday when they spotted an elderly driver driving with a flat tyre.
They signalled for the vehicle to stop and then helped to change the tyre so the motorist could continue on their journey.

Posting about the incident on social media, the Cavan Monaghan Garda Division said: “While leaving Monaghan Court House earlier today Carrickmacross Gardaí Leonard (pictured) and McMenamin observed an elderly driver driving on a flat tyre. They signalled the vehicle to stop and assisted in changing the wheel in order that this elderly motorist could continue their journey.”
The post went on to joke: “Bystanders swear they heard Garda Leonard mumbling "Righty Tighty -Lefty Loosey" repeatedly to himself as he worked away. #HereToHelp.”
The kind gesture has been praised by thousands of people who have liked, shared and commented on the post.
