A garda was left with his index finger hanging off after being bitten by a thug while carrying out an arrest today.
The Irish Mirror has learned that the incident happened at Gulliver's Retail Park which is located beside the M50 on Dublin's northside at after 11.30am.
Gardai were responding to a dangerous driving incident at the time.

Sources have told the Mirror that during the arrest of a man in his 30s, a garda had his finger bitten and it was left hanging off.
The Garda member was taken to James Connolly Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
The arrested man is being held at Ballymun Garda Station.
A garda spokesman told the Irish Mirror: An Garda Síochána responded to a call concerning an incident of dangerous driving at Gulliver’s Retail Park, Ballymun, at approximately 11:30am this morning, Saturday 21st January 2023.
"During the course of an arrest, a member of An Garda Síochána was assaulted. A man in his 30s was arrested and was brought to Ballymun Garda station where he is currently detained.
"The member of An Garda Síochána was taken to James Connolly Hospital to be treated for their injuries which are understood be serious but non-life threatening.
"Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. Any road users who were in the area at between 10:30am and noon today, who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ballymun Garda station on 01 666 4400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
