Game of Thrones star Kit Harington gives House of the Dragon verdict

Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has given his verdict on prequel series House of the Dragon, saying he is “really enjoying it.”

35-year-old Kit played eventual King of the North Jon Snow for eight seasons of the HBO epic fantasy series, and has weighed in on its new spin-off, which premiered last month. The new series takes place 200 years before its predecessor and centres around the downfall of House Targaryen and the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war – known as the Dance of the Dragons.

The English actor – who has recently made a foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe – has weighed in on the new series during a red-carpet interview with Entertainment tonight and praised its creators for doing a “fantastic job.” He said: “I’m really enjoying it. My friend Miguel showran it, so I’m really enjoying it.

“I think they’ve done a fantastic job. It’s a weird one to start a whole new show in the same kind of realm and to make it its own thing, and I think that they’ve really done that.”

Showrunner Miguel Sapochnik – who also directed several episodes of Game of Thrones – announced last month that he was leaving the series after spending three years developing its first season, leaving co-creator Ryan Condal to lead production going forward. In a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter, Miguel said: “Working within the Thrones universe for the past few years has been an honor and a privilege, especially spending the last two with the amazing cast and crew of House of the Dragon.

“I am so proud of what we accomplished with season one and overjoyed by the enthusiastic reaction of our viewers. It was incredibly tough to decide to move on, but I know that it is the right choice for me, personally and professionally.”

Although most reactions to the first four episodes of House of the Dragon have been positive, many fans took to social media following its premiere to criticise its “dodgy” CGI. Following its second episode, eagle-eyed viewers pointed out yet another major CGI blunder for the franchise.

House of the Dragon airs on Mondays at 2am and 9pm on Sky Atlantic.
