Pokemon creator Game Freak confirmed that it has been hit by a hack that resulted in a massive data breach.

The leak supposedly shares various details on the Nintendo Switch 2 as well as unannounced Pokemon games. The latter is rumored to be information on a new 10th generation game known as codename Gaia that will come out in two versions, K and N.

Massive Nintendo Data Breach

The unannounced project is said to be coming out on a platform codenamed Ounce, which is supposedly the Switch successor. The leak also includes information on Pokemon that were said to have been left on the cutting room floor.

The leak was said to include gigabytes of information from Game Freak's storage. The studio issued a statement earlier this week.

It confirmed that it suffered a data breach in August 2024. This was after an unauthorized third party gained access to a company server, according to Tom's Guide.

The unannounced Pokemon projects are supposedly being tested on the current Nintendo Switch console. This would suggest that the titles are being planned for a cross-platform release in the future.

Furthermore, the leak also noted that a Pokemon spin-off codenamed Synapse is being developed by Game Freak.

It supposedly contains source code for Pokemon HeartGold and Pokemon SoulSilver from the DS era. It also contains source code for Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2.

The Japanese game studio added that the data breach also resulted in the third party gaining access to personal information.

This includes data regarding Game Freak's employees. It added that it is contacting affected workers individually to address the issue, Nintendo Life said.

Unannounced Pokemon Games

Game Freak also apologized to everyone who was affected by the data breach. The studio added that the vulnerability at the heart of the gigabytes-worth hack has since been rebuilt and corrected.

The leak also revealed plot information for an unreleased sequel to the Detective Pikachu movie released in 2019.

The new film is supposedly known as The Great Detective Pikachu. It is rumored to be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts supposedly fills the director role for the sequel. He is also the one who directed Kong: Skull Island.

The sequel apparently has a 2024 release window but it has so far not yet been revealed to the public.

There is also evidence that suggests a trilogy of live-action Pokemon movies being considered at one point in the past. The third would have supposedly focused its story on the Game Boy, according to IGN.
