Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Galopin Des Champs was given a hero's welcome when he returned to the village of Leighlinbridge on Tuesday evening.

Paul Townend secured Willie Mullins' third Gold Cup winner in five years after steering the favourite home last Friday afternoon.

For a long time it looked like Mullins was destined to never claim the showpiece meeting’s most prestigious prize after saddling the runner-up on no less than six occasions.
