Gabriel Martinelli dedicates Leicester City winner to young Arsenal fan after social media plea

Gabriel Martinelli has dedicated his winning goal in Arsenal's 1-0 Premier League win over Leicester City to a young Gunner on social media.

The Brazilian slotted home his ninth goal of the season in the opening minute of the second half at the King Power Stadium to hand the Gunners another vital victory. Martinelli has now scored in the two previous games, producing a terrific response to losing his place in Mikel Arteta's starting line-up recently.

"It was really important for him," Arteta said after the game. "Sometimes you have to give someone a breather to come back with even more energy and enthusiasm. Today he contributed with a fantastic goal that gives us the win."

Martinelli's important strikes against Aston Villa and Leicester are his first two since he netted in back-to-back games against West Ham and Brighton in December. The 21-year-old's celebrations at the final whistle summed up the importance of the win in the Midlands, but he dedicated his goal to a young supporter named Steven.

On Thursday, YouTube vlogger Miss Melina posted an image of herself and Steven, with the following tweet: "Steven is a massive Arsenal and Gabriel Martinelli fan. I know this may be a shot in the dark, but I really hope Gabi can see this tweet and possibly send his best wishes for my friend, Steven."

And Melina's tweet was seen by Martinelli, with the winger posting a dedicated message to the young fan. Alongside two images of the win over Leicester, he tweeted: "Important 3 points away from home. That was for you Steven."
