Gabriel Jesus return date, Arsenal in Dubai, Flo Balogun recall, Mykhaylo Mudryk acceleration

What is it about Arsenal title races and major injuries? The Gunners have a five point lead at the top of the Premier League but are now reeling from the news that one of the most crucial parts of them getting there could has suffered a serious injury.

football.london understands that Gabriel Jesus will be out for at least three to four weeks after suffering a knee problem on World Cup duty, but reports in Brazil have suggested that period could be as long as three months. Although he hasn't scored in his last 11 matches Jesus has had a transformative effect on the Arsenal attack, and losing him presents a huge problem for Mikel Arteta.

As far as solutions go he of course has Eddie Nketiah to call upon as back up after giving him a five year contract extension in the summer. football.london understands that the Gunners also retain a recall clause on Flo Balogun 's loan at Stade Reims should they decide they need more back up, while another answer could be to accelerate transfer plans for a forward like Mykhaylo Mudryk who continues to be linked heavily despite not being an out and out striker.

While he decides what the next step in his plan will be Arteta has flown his squad out to Dubai to begin a warm weather training camp ahead of matches against Lyon and AC Milan as part of the Dubai Super Cup. Arsenal are taking a relatively young squad out to the Middle East, while Emile Smith Rowe could also make his return from a groin injury after travelling with the group.
