G2 launches HopEUm podcast following EUphoria’s cancellation

G2 Esports have announced a new podcast focusing on the LEC—HopEUm. The announcement comes as part of a new partnership with esports bookmaker Winamax, Riot’s first approved betting partner in Europe. With HopEUm, G2 is looking to fill the void left in the European League of Legends content space with the cancellation of EUphoria heading into 2026.

Quickshot to host G2’s HopEUm podcast

Headlining the announcement as host of the HopEUm podcast is former LEC caster Trevor “Quickshot” Henry. For a decade, Quickshot was the voice of the LEC, before a sudden departure from Riot’s broadcasts in 2024.

Quickshot has already started looking for ways to innovate on the podcast format and deliver exactly what European fans are looking for. A day before the announcement from G2, he put a post out on X asking for European League of Legends podcasts that the fans cherish, particularly in regional languages.

Exactly what the HopEUm format will end up being is still up in the air with the first episode set to air next week.

The show will unite co-streamers, pro players, and special guests from across Europe to break down everything that happened in the LEC. Expect hot takes, deep dives, and plenty of chaos. — G2

Why was EUphoria cancelled?

While the announcement from G2 brings exciting new content to the table, fans will still feel the absence of the LEC’s legendary EUphoria podcast. Started in 2018, originally hosted by Martin “Deficio” Lynge and Daniel “Drakos” Drakos, EUphoria was a Riot produced podcast covering the LEC.

EUphoria served as crucial “shoulder content” for the LEC—clips were routinely repurposed during broadcasts for desk segments, graphics, and to provide player perspectives casters could reference on air.

Over its 13 seasons, the podcast gained an incredible audience, with the seasons between 2021-2023 standing out as particularly popular regularly garnering over 100k views on each episode. By 2024 though that viewership had dried up, alongside a general downturn for League of Legends viewership across regions.

That quickly meant that the high production value of the podcast became a burden for the LEC. After running a season per split from 2020 to 2022, the subsequent years saw the podcast reduced to a single 21 episode season for the entire year. That, for some fans, already signalled the beginning of the end for EUphoria, and Riot sunsetted the podcast in December 2025. The move was also followed by a reduction in the talent lineup for the 2026 LEC season, as more cost cutting measures continue for LoL as a whole.

With the backing of the content powerhouse that is G2, HopEUm will aim to capture the insightful discussions EUphoria brought to the table. At the same time, with the shoulder content now moving from developer control to team organizations, fans can expect a lot more hot takes and chaos.

Whether team-created content can replicate EUphoria’s role as a league-wide narrative hub and casual fan gateway remains to be seen—but for now, HopEUm represents the LEC’s content future.
