G2 and Evil Geniuses punch their tickets, closing out the VCT Americas Stage 2 playoff field

Evil Geniuses and G2 Esports have secured the last two spots in the VCT 2026: Americas Stage 2 playoffs, completing a bracket that will also feature FURIA and MIBR. Both sides came through the play-ins gauntlet on a day when ENVY and KRÜ Esports finally ran out of steam.

How the final day unfolded

The Americas play-ins field went into the final day with all to play for, with multiple teams still alive and two berths up for grabs. G2 and EG both came through, while KRÜ and ENVY were sent home. KRÜ had shown enough grit to knock out Sentinels earlier in the bracket, sweeping them 2-0 on maps that included a punishing Ascent performance, but the Argentine roster ultimately couldn't sustain those levels when it really mattered.

G2's path through the play-ins wasn’t exactly neat and tidy. Earlier in the stage, the roster dropped a series to FURIA 1-2, a loss that forced them into the lower bracket and left the community questioning whether they'd make it out at all. That defeat put pressure on every match that followed.

The full playoff field

With G2 and EG now confirmed, the VCT 2026: Americas Stage 2 playoff bracket is set. The four participants qualified through the play-in stage:

Team Qualified Via
MIBR Play-ins
FURIA Play-ins
G2 Esports Play-ins
Evil Geniuses Play-ins
ENVY Eliminated
KRÜ Esports Eliminated

MIBR and FURIA made it through a couple of hours earlier, setting the stage for the final round of play-in action that would decide who joined them.

What this means for the region

The Americas playoff field shows that anybody can beat anybody right now, and that past reputations don’t guarantee success in 2026. Sentinels, one of VALORANT's most recognized franchises, fell to KRÜ in the lower bracket and will not be at the playoffs. Few would have seen that coming pre-tournament, with Sentinels a team that’s long been central to the region's identity.

G2's survival, meanwhile, is a big result for a roster that spent part of this stage coming from behind. Getting bounced into the lower bracket by FURIA after losing that first series could have ended the run, but the team showed resilience and guts to ground their way through.

KRÜ can always look back on the time they knocked out favorites Sentinels as a cool moment but, ultimately, the popular South American squad won't be at the playoffs.

What's next

The VCT 2026: Americas Stage 2 playoffs are next now that all six teams have been confirmed. G2 Esports, Evil Geniuses, MIBR, and FURIA will face off in a bracket format, with a Champions Shanghai berth on the line for the top finishers. Teams eliminated from the playoff stage will see their VALORANT season continue only if they can earn a path through alternative qualification routes.

For G2, after a play-in stage spent battling back from the lower bracket, the playoffs represent a fresh start. Whether the squad can convert that hard-earned qualification into a deep run is the question the bracket will now answer.
