FUT Esports lifted the PGL Bucharest 2026 trophy after a four-map win over Astralis. The former NAVI Junior side was dominant in their wins, giving the Danes just 13 rounds across three maps. Astralis, meanwhile, narrowly edged out Nuke in overtime to earn their sole map win of the best-of-five series. The win comes at perfect time for FUT, giving them a boost of confidence as they head towards the IEM Cologne Major 2026.
Astralis shell-shocked by FUT’s firepower
Right off the bat, FUT controlled the map well, with their CT side using a pistol win as the springboard for an 8-4 half. But it wasn’t just the defence that worked for FUT, as Astralis’ own CT side struggled to hold off any attacks, allowing Aulon “Krabeni” Fazlija and co. to wrap up Ancient 13-5.

Mirage was no different, with the team going seven rounds without losing a single one to the defence. An even more dominant 10-2 half could have easily spelled a 13-2 map had Astralis not snatched away the pistol round. Still, just three rounds later, FUT put two maps on the board 13-5.
If Astralis were hoping for a good start as the solution to their woes, it wouldn’t come on Nuke either. But on one of their comfort picks, Astralis were consistently peppering FUT’s defence, sneaking four rounds across the line, and planting the bomb an additional three times. András “coolio” Fercsák’s troops still could have wrapped things up following another pistol round win, but at long-last Astralis stepped up on their CT side to make the map competitive.
While FUT locked-in matchpoint first, Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard pulled off a masterful clutch in lobby, keeping his team alive, and swinging the momentum far enough to allow an overtime win. Dmytro “dem0n” Myroshnychenko, who had stayed rather silent on Nuke, was properly fired up from the map loss, and dominated Dust2 with a massive 25-6 KD, forcing through a 13-3 win to close the map.

FUT’s incredible 2026 reaches new high
For a squad comprised of young players, FUT has had a remarkable rise through the ranks in 2026. The team first signed with FUT in August of 2025 following the promotion of Drin “makazze” Shaqiri to NAVI’s main roster. Initially playing with Kévin “misutaaa” Rabier, the team eventually signed Laurențiu “lauNX” Țârlea to bolster their firepower.
The team started 2026 with a loss to FURIA in the online portion of BLAST Bounty, before exacting revenge on the Brazilian squad at IEM Krakow. Unfortunately they ran into Astralis in the lower-bracket of the event, with a 2-13 collapse on Nuke being their final map at the event. Cluj-Napoca once again proved their strenght against the top teams, with the team making it all the way to the 2-2 games before an inspired Andrey “BELCHONOKK” Yasinskiy performance knocked them out of Romania.

ESL Pro League saw the team earn their first playoff ticket, with a 3-0 in Bucharest’s group stage putting them on the harder side of the bracket. While each map in the quarters and semis came down to the wire, FUT consistently showed their tenacity and firepower to make it through to the finals.

With IEM Cologne on the horizon, and FUT also set to attend BLAST Rivals and IEM Atlanta in the run-up, the team has set themselves up for a playoffs shot at the Major. For a team that was still an academy under a year ago, FUT is speedrunning through the Tier-1 checkpoints as they prove themselves a consistent force in the top 10.
