Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua press conference LIVE
The long-awaited day is finally upon us - after years of acrimony and build-up, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are finally due to face off in London ahead of their heavyweight bout this December. The fight is years in the making and will finally be staged later this year in Cardiff in what will likely be the most hotly anticipated fight in British boxing history.
There was even doubt as to whether this press conference would take place, but now Fury has submitted to voluntary anti-doping testing, it is due to go ahead as scheduled. There is plenty of controversy still to unpack, though, with Eddie Hearn fuming at Dana White’s supposed involvement in the fight. The UFC mogul is not expected to be in attendance today.

We are hearing this evening’s proceedings will get underway at around 6pm BST, rather than 5.45pm.
How did we get here?

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury both staged a preliminary fight earlier this year which they had to win to declare themselves contractually eligible for this bout.
For Fury, that took the form of a charity bout against Mariusz Wach in Thailand. It was a routine enough win there, with the big Pole dropping out in the seventh round.
And for Joshua, there was a dramatic meeting with Kristian Prenga in Riyadh. He was dropped twice in the first round, but roared back in the second round to knock out his opponent.
That takes us to Cardiff on December 11!

What to expect tonight

This press conference will be the first opportunity for Fury and Joshua to look into one another’s eyes and express their differences of opinion. Chiefly, it is a chance for either party to intimidate his opposite number.
In terms of the order of operations, it will likely get started with Fury and Joshua answering questions posed by an MC. This, in effect, is a chance for them to level verbal volleys at one another and develop the animosity between them before fight night.
The promoters, Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn, who are generally good value for money, will also get a chance to speak.
We expect the affair to end with a face-off, which is where flashpoints will be most likely to occur.
Why isn't the fight taking place in London?

The Principality Stadium in the Welsh capital has a capacity of 80,000 - and crucially for this bout, it has a roof. With the fight taking place late at night during the winter, the roof was deemed essential for both fans and fighters alike.
Cardiff also won the race partly due to the Welsh government extending the venue's curfew time - logistics and curfew extension did not work for London venues.
However the fight could be blocked if Cardiff Council fails to agree its expected 2am start time.
Council leader Chris Weaver said required changes to the premises licence to allow the early-hours fight to go ahead had yet to be secured.
Under its current premises licence, the stadium is permitted to host boxing or wrestling entertainment until 1am when the roof is closed.
Why are Fury and Joshua fighting so late at night?

A rare Friday night affair, said to avoid a clash with college football in the United States, which typically takes place on Saturdays, has now been announced.
As such, he initially proposed the idea of an overnight card, taking place in London at 2am, to best suit the time zones across the pond.
Wembley typically has an 11pm curfew for most weekend events and special approval would need to be granted to extend that into the early hours of the morning. That appears to be how Cardiff was raised as an option, with ring walks potentially remaining around 2am local time.
