Furious Good Morning Britain viewers issue plea as they 'turn off' during Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid's latest appearance

Good Morning Britain viewers say they were left 'turning off' the first live show of the week as they issued a plea. Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley were back at the helm of the ITV news programme on Monday morning (January 9).

And while many of last week's episodes were dominated by teasers of Prince Harry's ITV interview with Tom Bradby, today's episode saw them able to discuss the 90-minute sit-down chat at length after it was aired on Sunday night (January 8).

The Duke of Sussex gave a tell-all interview to journalist Tom while promoting his controversial memoir, Spare, which is due to be released on Tuesday (January 10). Harry gave his side of the story as he was grilled on claims made in his autobiography, including about his relationship with his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William.

The 38-year-old also opened up about the tragic death of his mother Princess Diana, and his marriage to Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex. Prince Harry could also be heard reading out excerpts from his explosive autobiography, which he narrates for the audiobook version.

Harry's talk with Tom Bradby is one of four interviews he has conducted ahead of the release of Spare. The second, with CBS News aired hours after ITV released the only UK interview with the former senior royal.

During the latest episode of GMB, Susanna and Richard appeared live in the studio while Richard Gaisford reported from outside Buckingham Palace and Noel Phillips, the show's North America correspondent, chatted about the new explosive details live from New York.

Susanna and Richard were keen to discuss the two interviews with their co-stars and various guests on the show, with Richard quick to slam Prince Harry after he denied accusing the Royal Family of racism. During their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Harry and his wife Meghan Markle opened up about their time as senior working royals and alleged that an unnamed person within the royal household had 'concerns and conversations' about how 'dark' the skin of their son Archie would be.

However, during his sit-down interview with ITV anchor Tom, Prince Harry has said they never made a racism accusation. After the 38-year-old was asked to elaborate on the Oprah interview in which ‘you accused members of your family of racism’, Harry replied: replied: "There was – there was concern about his skin colour."

He was then asked: "Wouldn’t you describe that as essentially racist?" But Prince Harry later responded: "I wouldn't, not having lived within that family." During Monday’s Good Morning Britain, Richard furiously questioned why the shocking claim wasn’t 'corrected' sooner.

"If we misunderstood it and it was the front page story in the world, why didn’t they correct it?" the former This Morning host said. "Why didn’t Harry or Meghan say at some point on one of their podcasts or one of the opportunities that they’ve had and say “by the way, we didn’t mean it the way you guys took it, we weren’t accusing the family of racism."

The hosts were discussing all the latest fallout from Prince Harry's fresh interviews (ITV)

Also during the show, Richard remarked: It would be a huge relief if that was it and the last we had to talk about this damn story" Richard fumed. He then asked: "But how will they make a living. What more have they got to stay that we will be interested in hearing?"

But Susanna defended Harry and Meghan, saying: "Well hopefully they've got a lot more to say that's not just about the royal family. They're two intelligent, interesting people." GMB viewers, however, were keen for a change to be made to the show as they grew bored of the Harry chat.

@bagpuss1809 tweeted: "This has been talked about for over a week now, then the NHS and then strikes.. is there nothing else happening..GMB is like Groundhog Day. Seriously needs a massive review of its criteria and schedule." @Dogstrustjoey fumed: "#gmb do you not read tweets? @susannareid100 @richardm56 @GMB people would like real news not someone throwing their family under the bus for money! #turnoff."

@yogica12 commented: "Harry is all GMB has talked about since 6am. Please give it a rest. Completely avoiding the reality of issues happening in UK #GMB." @eshmackem shared: "#gmb Prince Harry. Enough! The country is on its knees ffs!!" @DeptfordWife1 wrote: "#GMB…why are Harry and Meghan your MAIN news story today????!!!" @ConfusedWorker1 added: "Seriously can the news f**k off talking about Harry and Megan? Literally nobody gives a s**t and every single day it's their main headlines like there's no others news going on! Like there isn't a war going on, or the UK isn't in turmoil #GMB."
