Full Met Office hour-by-hour weather forecast as yellow warning announced for Notts

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in Nottinghamshire, as the county prepares to hit highs of 30C. The county has been blessed with warm weather this week, but things are looking to take a turn on Sunday, June 11.

The Met Office has predicted thunderstorms in the county today and has issued a yellow warning covering the East Midlands, stating that thunderstorms and torrential downpours may bring disruption.

Temperatures will remain at 26C between 12pm and 1pm today, with a low chance of rain. But clouds are expected to start to cover the skies at around 2pm, and there will be a 50 percent chance of a thunder shower.

Rain is expected between 3pm and 5pm, with temperatures dropping from 27C to 24C. Things are expected to dry up between 6pm and 8pm, with temperatures remaining steady,

Cloud cover will clear slightly at around 9pm, and temperatures will drop from 22C to 20C between 9pm and 11pm. The Met Office has also issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms for Monday, June 12.

According to the forecaster, those in Nottinghamshire should expect:

  • Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
  • Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • Some communities might become cut off if roads flood
  • Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
  • Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
  • Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life
