Nealy £700,000 is to be spent repairing potholes in roads across Salford. The cash is a chunk of the £15.5million given to the Greater Manchester Combined Authority by the Department of Transport in 2021 via the Potholes Action Fund.
Inspectors have prioritised for repair various roads in the city during their scheduled safety inspection, the deputy city mayor and lead member for housing, property and regeneration Coun Tracy Kelly was told at a briefing. Other defects in the highways have been highlighted by members of the public, neighbourhood managers and local councillors.
A report at the briefing said: “Actionable defects defined by risk assessment, have been made safe, but there are adjacent areas of carriageways that require repair to prevent further deterioration. Any repairs not completed in this financial year will roll over into next year. Roads to be repaired include the A580 East Lancashire Road which cuts through Worsley, Boothstown, Weaste and Swinton.
