Full list of Remembrance 2022 events and road closures in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire

Across Nottingham city and county, plans are being finalised for this year's Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday. The dates for your diary are Armistice Day, Friday, November 11, and Remembrance Sunday, Sunday, November 13.

Armistice Day marks the day and time that First World War guns fell silent - 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month. Remembrance Sunday is held on the second Sunday in November in the United Kingdom, with 11am marked with a period of silence to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts.

The traditional poppy is worn to show respect and remembrance. This is usually worn from the last Friday in October until the end of Remembrance Day. In more recent years, some social media users have also added an image of a poppy to their social media pages.
