Multiple major supermarkets and retailers across the country have been recalling a few of their chicken products over fears they could be contaminated with salmonella.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has been issuing a series of food alerts informing customers on which products have been recalled.
The regulator recently issued another update that Cranswick Country Foods has recalled several chicken products. The manufacturer supplies products to Costa, Starbucks, Aldi, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and more.
Pret A Manger has withdrawn all items containing chicken from its shelves, while supermarkets including Aldi and Sainsbury's have pulled sandwiches, wraps and other chicken goods, reports The Mirror.
Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps. It is not yet clear if anyone has been made ill by the bug from eating one of the products listed below.
Shoppers are being urged not to eat any of the affected products and to return them to store for a refund.
All of the products affected have specific use by and best before dates, meaning that not all are affected.
You can view The FSA website for all the products that have been recalled, but we have detailed below all the products currently recalled from supermarkets and retailers.
Pret A Manger
Pret A Manger has withdrawn all chicken items from shelves as a "precautionary" measure.
When a product is withdrawn rather than recalled, this means it has been stopped from going on sale before customers have a chance to buy it.
In a statement, the café chain said the risk of salmonella has been identified at one of its supplier's sites.
A Pret A Manger spokesman said: "As a precautionary measure, we've temporarily removed the majority of chicken items on our menu due to a potential food safety risk at one of our suppliers.
"We hope to have these back in shops soon. We apologise for any inconvenience."
