Throughout the coming months, as the Government begins to roll out cost of living supports, a number of parents and guardians will be eligible for payments of over €400.
Although some of these measures will not be handed out until the latter part of the year, the payments were designed to help make a difference to parents who may be struggling with the current cost of living.
Here is everything you need to know about the payments and who is eligible:

Child benefit bonus
It was confirmed by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar that rather than an autumn double payment, all recipients of Child Benefit will receive a €100 cash bonus in June.
Back to School Allowance bonus
People in receipt of the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance will receive €100 extra this year. The payment is normally handed out in September, meaning parents might be waiting for a while. Regardless, the payment has been welcomed given the high cost of returning to school.
Social welfare bonus
In April, there will be a €200 spring bonus payment for social welfare recipients. This means if you are a parent receiving social welfare, you will get a cash boost.
If you are eligible for all of the payments, then a cash boost of €400 over the next few months is on the cards.
Further payments
Furthermore, there are a few more measures that could provide further savings - such as:
- Leaving and Junior Cert fees waived
- School transport costs reduced
- Hot School Meals scheme extended
