Avon and Somerset Police has released a full list of knife surrender bins in Bristol and Somerset as part of a national operation to tackle knife crime. Dubbed 'Operation Sceptre', the force is asking people to surrender any weapons they may have and has put out 17 weapon surrender bins in total across the region - both attached to police stations and in communities.
In a post to Facebook yesterday (May 19) Avon and Somerset Police said: "Since 2016, there have been over 4,000 knives and weapons surrendered through these existing bins. Last month, two new knife surrender bins were installed in response to community requests in Bristol - one in Castle Park in the city centre and the other outside The Park Centre in Knowle.
"More bins are being planned. If you feel your community needs one please get in touch."

What you need to know when surrendering a knife or offensive weapon
Make sure items are wrapped in something, such as a towel, and carried in a bag to prevent injury.
Consider going in daylight and during office hours when sites are staffed.
Make a specific journey rather than carry an item for longer than necessary.
Check opening hours before taking any large items such as swords, as these will not fit into the surrender bins.
