Full list of King's coronation street parties and road closures in Bolton

Bolton is set to celebrate King Charles III coronation in style with street parties being held across the borough. Patriotic residents have lodged applications for road-closure street parties with knees ups taking place everywhere from Kearsley in the south of the borough to Horwich and Blackrod in the north and all parts in between.

A total of 43 streets have applied for road closures which of which an handful have applied for a two day restriction. King Charles III’s coronation will take place on Saturday, May 6 with a service at Westminster Abbey. For most, it will be the first time they have witnessed the coronation of a British monarch – the late Queen Elizabeth II having been crowned nearly 70 years ago.

Monday, May 8 is Volunteer Day and Victoria Square in Bolton will be hosting Bolton’s Big Help Out event, showcasing the vast range of volunteering opportunities in the borough. From 11am to 2pm, Bolton CVS will be hosting the ‘Volunteers Market’ where voluntary organisations and charities will profile their work and highlight opportunities for people to contribute to the local community.

There will also be live music, street performers and family entertainment as well activities keep young people entertained. Sue Johnson, Chief Executive of Bolton Council said: “The Coronation will be a unique piece of British history and I urge everyone to take part and celebrate with their local community.

“We are also looking forward to our Volunteer Market on Monday May 8, Bolton is lucky to have many outstanding charities and this will be the ideal opportunity to find out more and get involved with the work they do.”

The council has waived fees for road closures for street parties in a bid to encourage people to celebrate the historic occasion. The deadline to apply for a street party licence in Bolton has now passed.

During the parties all vehicles not engaged in the event will be prohibited on the parts of streets specified within the closure order.
