Fulham star Joao Palhinha sends Bruno Fernandes message after Manchester United FA Cup draw

Manchester United's vice-captain Bruno Fernandes has been sent a message from Fulham star Joao Palhinha ahead of their clubs' meeting in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

United managed to book their place in the next round despite finding themselves 1-0 down to West Ham less than ten minutes into the second half when Said Benrahma fired home a superb strike despite appeals that the ball had gone out of play during the build-up. Casemiro thought he had equalised for the Reds but he was adjudged to be offside on VAR review.

Erik ten Hag's team were level on 77 minutes when Nayef Aguerd headed a corner into his own goal. As United looked like they were heading to extra time, Alejandro Garnacho popped up with a superb curled finish to send Old Trafford into raptures.

Fred made sure of progression in the fifth minute of stoppage time when he calmly converted after good pressure from Wout Weghorst. United were subsequently drawn to play against Premier League rivals Fulham in the quarter-finals, with defensive-midfielder Palhinha clearly already excited about the tie.

Fernandes and Palhinha know each other from international duty having represented Portugal at the same time on 14 occasions. On Instagram, the 27-year-old sent the simple response: "See you soon," to Fernandes who had praised the Reds' fighting spirit to progress to the last eight.

The Cottagers secured their place in the next round thanks to a 2-0 victory over Leeds on Tuesday night.

Palhinha gave Fulham the lead in the first half before Manor Soloman doubled the advantage after the interval. United have already faced the London side once this season as Garnacho scored a late winner in a 2-1 victory at Craven Cottage.

United will not face Fulham again until the last day of the season after their meeting in mid-March.
