A part-time job enforcing parking rules offered an ordinary introduction to a career that would eventually reach the United States Supreme Court. For Richard Mack, the path between those roles involved family discussions, elected office, and a legal challenge that helped shape his views on the responsibilities of law enforcement.
Today, Mack is founder and president of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA). He explains the organization's work as educating sheriffs, peace officers, and the public about constitutional rights and the responsibilities of local law enforcement. That mission grew from questions he encountered during his career about the relationship between government authority and the people it serves.
