The House Oversight Committee released video footage on Monday of the closed-door depositions given by Bill and Hillary Clinton as part of its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. The Clintons' Released Epstein Depositions, spanning more than nine hours, have brought into focus several previously undisclosed details, including a notable photograph and lines of questioning that veered into unexpected areas.
Both the former president and secretary of state insisted they had no knowledge of Epstein's criminal activities, and neither has faced accusations of wrongdoing from victims or investigators.
Bill Clinton Explains the Hot Tub Photo
A photograph released by the US Department of Justice late last year shows Bill Clinton relaxing in a hot tub with an unidentified woman whose face was redacted. In his testimony, the former president explained that the image was almost certainly captured in Brunei during a trip at the end of a long Asian itinerary tied to the Clinton Global Initiative.
'I don't think I ever knew the photo was taken,' he said, recalling that he used the hotel pool and hot tub at the invitation of the sultan before retiring exhausted. He spent only about five minutes in the tub and denied knowing the other person's identity or engaging in any improper conduct. Additional images from the same location feature Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's co-conspirator currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.
Clinton described his association with Epstein as fleeting and charity-related, ending well before the sex offender's crimes surfaced publicly. He also shared details of a past conversation with Donald Trump, who mentioned their friendship soured over a land deal.
Hillary Clinton's Outburst over Leaked Photo
Hillary Clinton's deposition was briefly derailed when her team learned that a photograph taken inside the hearing room had been leaked to a conservative influencer. Visibly frustrated, she paused proceedings and told lawmakers she was finished cooperating.
'If you guys are doing that, I am done. You can hold me in contempt from now until the cows come home,' she stated. The leak has been linked to Republican representative Lauren Boebert. Clinton, who had pushed for the session to be public, accused the committee of conducting a politically motivated exercise.
She repeatedly stressed she had never encountered Epstein and knew nothing of his offences. The questioning, which lasted several hours in Chappaqua, New York, was later criticised by Clinton for its repetitive nature.
From UFO Files to Pizzagate
Towards the end of Hillary Clinton's testimony, the focus shifted to unrelated topics. Lawmakers inquired about her stance on disclosing government UFO files, following President Trump's recent directive to prepare their release. She welcomed the move, saying 'I think whatever can be disclosed should be disclosed'.
Questions also arose about the debunked Pizzagate conspiracy theory, which she branded one of the most vile bogus claims in recent memory. Similar tangents appeared in Bill Clinton's session. As one Instagram reel from a verified account highlighted the unusual direction the proceedings took.
The footage emerged just days after the depositions and follows the justice department's December 2025 release of Epstein documents that first included the hot tub images. As of 3 March 2026, the material has reignited debate over the Clintons' past associations, including multiple flights by Bill Clinton on Epstein's aircraft. Yet the couple's accounts remain consistent in their denial of any awareness of the abuse at the time.
