An anonymous junior software developer has sparked a discussion about workplace politics after claiming that colleagues turned hostile towards him following his efforts to fix a long-standing backend issue at his company. The developer, who said he had around 1.5 years of experience, alleged that his work significantly improved system performance but instead of receiving recognition, he faced resistance from senior colleagues and criticism from his manager.
Sharing his experience on social media, the developer said data retrieval from a legacy backend system was taking nearly 30 seconds. He spent a weekend investigating the database, fixing the query pipeline and introducing caching, bringing the response time down to less than three seconds.
