Kind hearted members of the community rallied to raise money for the family of a tragic Bootle man who took his own life following an explosive row with his long-distance girlfriend.
Polish-born Damian Zabocinski was just 26 when he was found hanged at a house on Pennington Road, where he lived with several other men, at around 00.20am on May 20 2022.
An online fundraiser, 'donate to help send Damian to Poland', raised £3,230 for his body to be sent to his native country for a funeral - far exceeding its original goal of £2,000.
His friend Lukasz Grzegorzek said: "Please donate a little if you can, anything helps. We are trying to get Damian Zabocinski home to be able to send his body to his motherland for a funeral in Poland."

At Mr Zabocinski's inquest at Bootle Town Hall today, September 7, the court heard the 26-year-old had spent the day with his friends at Crosby beach before returning home at around 9.30pm and having 'a few drinks'.
His friends then went upstairs, leaving him in his living quarters downstairs. A short time later, his friends overheard the young painter arguing over the phone with his girlfriend back in Poland.
Mr Zabocinski's mother, who also lived in Poland, then placed a call to one of her son's friends and asked him to check on him, as she was worried about his safety.
The friend broke down the door, and found Mr Zabocinski hanged. He called 999, and Mr Zabocinski was pronounced dead by attending paramedics at 00.23am.
Handing down a conclusion of suicide, coroner Johanna Thompson said: "We have heard that Damian's friend spoke to his mother in Poland and she had concerns, so he went into Damian's living quarters where he found him.
"Police have no suspicions and there was no evidence of any third party involvement. The fact that steps had been clearly made... for the purpose of hanging indicated intent on the part of Damian."
