He was placed on administrative leave on June 13 as the city launched an investigation into the alleged affair.
Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer expressed that it has been a challenging time for the community, the police department, and the families involved. With Balderrama's resignation, the hope is to move forward and focus on public safety. Fresno City Manager Georgeanne White clarified that allegations of Balderrama undermining the officer's career were not substantiated.
