Heavy rain and blustery winds across much of the UK this weekend will be followed by a period of potentially severe cold weather next week, according to the Met Office. The weather forecaster has issued yellow warnings for rain for Wales and many parts of England in place from Friday night until midday on Saturday.
A yellow warning for wind and rain is in place in Northern Ireland from 2pm on Saturday until 3am on Sunday. The weather in Wales and areas of England including the North East, the North West, the South West, Yorkshire and West Midlands will result in potential flooding.
And the Met Office says overnight frost will become more widespread by Monday night, with overnight temperatures below 0°C across much of the UK. Temperatures could get down to -10°C in sheltered glens, or across high ground areas of Scotland where there is lying snow.
