France are celebrating a first Six Nations Grand Slam triumph since 2010 after a memorable night in Paris.
Les Bleus needed to beat old rivals England at the Stade de France in the Super Saturday finale to end their 12-year trophy drought after Ireland had piled on the pressure by brushing aside Scotland in Dublin.
And they got the victory they needed, with Gael Fickou and Francois Cros notching tries in the first half.
England battled valiantly again after the interval, leading to some French nerves as Freddie Steward crossed for the visitors in the corner.
However, captain and reigning World Player of the Year Antoine Dupont was on hand to register an important third try to swing all the momentum back in their favour, with the final whistle bringing jubilant celebrations in the French capital that will last long into the night.
Fabien Galthie’s side look imperious and will be confident of challenging for more honours as a home World Cup looms in 2023.
Despite another brave performance, England end the Six Nations with just two wins to their name amid more searching questions over Eddie Jones and the direction of the national team.
