The FPL General is back for another round of FPL tips ahead of Gameweek 20 – this time focusing on the best replacements for the injured Jarrod Bowen.
The West Ham star was forced off with an injury in their 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool on Sunday.
With the news that West Ham’s top goalscorer has fractured his foot, FPL players will have to find a replacement for Bowen who is set to be out for an unspecified amount of time.
Here is the FPL General’s three players to choose when it comes to replacing the West Ham star.
Potential FPL Jarrod Bowen Replacements
1. Anthony Gordon (£7.3m) – Tottenham vs NEWCASTLE
Anthony Gordon looks like he would make a good FPL replacement for Jarrod Bowen during the West Ham star’s absence. At £7.3m, he is £0.1m cheaper than Bowen and is currently playing for one of the Premier League’s most in-form sides.
Newcastle have won their last five games convincingly, scoring 16 goals compared to just one for their opponents in those matches.
Gordon has played a big part in their recent upturn in form with attacking returns in six of his last seven appearances. The England international picked up an assist in their last outing against Manchester United on December 30.
What might entice FPL players to Gordon is Newcastle’s favourable fixtures over the next five gameweeks. They play an out-of-sorts Tottenham in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, before hosting Wolves and Bournemouth, an away clash with Southampton and a home match against Fulham.
2. Ismaila Sarr (£5.9m) – CRYSTAL PALACE vs Chelsea
One potential budget option is Crystal Palace star Ismaila Sarr. The ex-Watford player is secure for minutes with the Eagles after completing 90 minutes in his last four games.
Playing more centrally for Palace than he has done in previous Premier League seasons has made a more productive FPL asset with 66 points to his name so far – 12 more than team-mate Eberechi Eze.
Choosing Sarr will also save FPL players £0.7m over Eze who is valued at £6.6m. Some FPL players might be put off by the fact Palace host a Chelsea side who will be determined for three points after failing to win their last three games.
However, the Eagles have a good run of fixtures after this weekend. Their following league fixtures include Leicester and West Ham away, Brentford at home, Manchester United at Old Trafford and Everton at Selhurst Park.
3. Morgan Gibbs-White (£6.3m) – Wolves vs NOTTINGHAM FOREST
Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a stunning season and Morgan Gibbs-White is a huge reason why they are second place heading into the New Year.
The midfielder would prove a sensible option after providing attacking returns in four of his last five games. At just £6.3m, he’s a great route into a team performing consistently well with a run of six wins in seven.
Potential owners could be encouraged by Forest’s upcoming run of fixtures starting with Wolves on January 6.
A clash with Liverpool looks tricky but they did hand the Reds their only defeat of the season back in September. That clash is followed by Southampton at home, Bournemouth away and Brighton at home.
