It was the viral moment that even led to Penn Badgley himself weighing in, but now Laura Ingraham is claiming the exchange was in the name of comedy.
By now, we’re sure you’ve seen Fox News personality Raymond Arroyo seemingly struggle on-air to explain to Ingraham the premise of aYou episode.
The duo finally addressed whether or not the segment was a bit on Wednesday. Speaking to Ingraham, Arroyo said: “People are asking was it real or was it scripted, Laura.”
“What do you think?” replied Ingraham.
“I think people are craving something authentic and real, and they got a bit of that,” said Arroyo.
She responded: “You know what I think, Raymond? I think there are a lot of liberals out there who don’t like conservatives having fun. That’s what I think! You know what else I think? I think they haven’t gotten a laugh in like 30 years and a thing that we practiced for, what, like 30 seconds? We got like 20 million views on YouTube. Ok?”
If you haven’t seen the clip, Arroyo is describing the Netflix show’s scene involving a case of measles appears to leave Ingraham utterly confused.
Arroyo said, “I was watching an episode of You where measles came up–”
“Wait, when did I mention measles?” Ingraham interrupted.
“I don’t know,” Arroyo replied. “It was You.”
For the rest of the one-minute clip, Ingraham appears to misunderstand the show’s title to Arroyo addressing her.
The absurd dialogue spread like wildfire online, with many unconvinced it wasn’t planned.
“It’s gotta be a bit. Dude is committed, he actually made me lol, but watch how he waits for her to cut him off,” Badgley tweeted.

He added to his thoughts in another tweet: “Definitely a bit. His delivery is great tho.”
While Ingraham tried to shut down the theory that the on-air debacle was real, some people on Twitter still aren’t convinced.
Several people have messaged me about this saying “It’s not real.”

Yeah, I’m sure it’s a setup.
But the possibility of it being real *is* plausible. And that’s the part that makes me laugh.
(And it’s probably the only time I’ll laugh at anything Laura Ingraham related.)
Nope....nope.... my sister is the exact same as Laure Ingraham, and it's ALL REAL. The UPS man dropped off a pkg. Said, You have a pick-up? She said, "No, I have a Jeep." This went on...

After reading these tweets about Laura Ingraham, I am for certain that she is not faking her stupidity for her dumb audience. Her stupidity is real.
