More than half of Americans disapprove of President Donald Trump’s performance in office, according to a new poll from Fox News.
Just over a year into his second term, the majority of voters are unhappy with Trump’s handling of immigration, foreign policy, the economy, the cost-of-living and his tariff policy, the survey says.
Overall, some 57% of voters said they did not approve of the president’s performance, with six in ten saying he was focused on the wrong issues. Trump’s overall disapproval scores in Fox News polls have hovered between 51 percent and 58 percent since last March.
The latest poll of 1,004 registered voters was conducted from February 28 until March 2, the first day coinciding with the launch of ongoing U.S. airstrikes on Iran.
Half of the respondents listed the cost-of-living as their top economic concern but the issue saw Trump’s most negative result. Two-thirds, or 67 percent, of those surveyed expressed dissatisfaction with the president, despite his claims to have “solved affordability”.
Trump’s tariffs policy saw the second most negative result in the poll, with 63 percent unimpressed with the president’s controversial strategy to impose sweeping duties.
The president’s disapproval ratings on the other key issues included 61 percent on both the economy and healthcare; 60 percent on foreign policy; 59 percent on taxes and 53 percent on immigration.
Out of nine main issues surveyed, border security was the only one where the president won the majority of support, with 52 percent approving of his approach.
White House spokesperson Davis Ingle hit back at the poll’s findings by citing statistics from polling aggregator RealClearPolitics.

“According to the RealClearPolitics average, President Trump is enjoying a higher approval rating than former Presidents Obama and Bush at this point in their second term, with much more hostile media coverage,” Ingle wrote.
At this point in their second terms, the 44th and 43rd presidents had approval scores of 42.5 percent and 38.7 percent respectively according to RealClearPolitics, while Trump’s approval sits at 43.3 percent.
Trump has bragged about his approval ratings in recent weeks.
“The highest Poll Numbers I have ever received,” he posted on Truth Social in early February. “Obviously, people like a strong and powerful Country, with the best economy, EVER!”
The Fox News poll also highlighted the ongoing partisan split in reaction to the president. Republican voters in Fox polls have consistently given Trump a positive rating of above 80 percent since March 2025.
But the latest survey suggested a split in GOP support for Trump when differentiating between MAGA and non-MAGA Republicans.
Approval for Trump rockets up to 98 percent among Republicans who identify with the so-called “Make America Great Again” movement, while dropping back down to 63 percent among non-MAGA Republicans.
Democrats did not escape criticism in the Fox News poll, with a record 70 percent disapproval of congressional Democrats. Republicans in Congress fared slightly better, though still only managing a 64 percent disapproval rating.
