Footage circulating appears to show several people carrying knives - (London & UK Street News)

Four teenage boys have been arrested after a knife fight broke out in front of Westfield shopping centre in Stratford.

Police were called at around 7pm on Sunday to reports of a fight involving a group of people, some armed with knives, near the popular shopping spot.

Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and there were no reports of serious injuries.

The Met Police said four boys, aged 16 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of affray.

Footage circulating on social media shows one person brandishing a machete and lunging forward as he tries to stab someone while security guards try to intervene.

A second person can also be seen holding a large knife moments earlier as a fight breaks out.

In another moment several people can be seen kicking a young man on the floor outside the shopping centre.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police were called at approximately 19:00hrs on Sunday, 5 January to reports of a fight involving a group of people, some armed with knives, in the vicinity of Westfield, E20.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. There were no reports of any serious injuries.

"Four males – aged 16 and 17 – were arrested on suspicion of affray. Enquiries into the circumstances continue."
