Four players tipped to sign for Manchester United in the January transfer window

Manchester United will be entering another transfer window and look to add new blood to their squad.

The departure of Cristiano Ronaldo this week has meant that United are in serious need of a striker in January to help fill that void. Midfield also remains a problem position for the Reds having failed to secure their main target of Frenkie de Jong in the summer.

With the World Cup now in full swing, Erik ten Hag will be on the lookout for players that could strengthen his hand for the remainder of the season. That being said, MEN Sport has taken a look at the four players United are tipped with signing according to Sky Bet.

Cody Gakpo - 7/2 favourite

United supporters will not be at all surprised to see this man on the list of players who are tipped to move to Old Trafford. Gakpo and Ten Hag had conversations about a possible switch in the summer but discussions broke down as the Reds failed to reach terms with PSV Eindhoven.

Since then, the 23-year-old has been showing just what he can do with some stellar performances for the Eredivisie side. His 13 goals and 17 assists for the Dutch giants will have kept Ten Hag interested.

Gakpo's start to the World Cup has been impressive too having scored twice in as many matches so far, including a thunderous strike against Ecuador on Friday. During that game he showed a different asset to his game by playing as a centre forward for the Netherlands.

Declan Rice - 5/1

Another player who has been permanently linked with a move to Old Trafford is Rice. The West Ham midfielder showcased exactly what the Reds had been missing before they signed Casemiro in the summer.

His defensive midfield ability is unquestionable however it would seem as though a move for him may be unlikely considering Ten Hag's move to bring Casemiro in. But, the 23-year-old is considerably younger than the Brazilian so perhaps United may see a transfer for the Englishman as a future investment.

Ruben Neves - 11/1

The Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder perhaps fits the bill for what Ten Hag is looking for better. Neves is proficient in both boxes and is likely to be itching for a move elsewhere considering Wolves' lowly league position.

However, according to the bookmakers, United are outsiders at best to land the Portuguese midfielder with Barcelona and Liverpool both better placed heading into January. Maybe Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot could put in a good word.

Youri Tielemans - 10/1

Similarly to Neves, Tielemans could be tempted with a switch to United. The Belgian's contract at Leicester City expires at the end of the season and it seems unlikely that he will renew despite the Foxes' up-turn in form.

Tielemans fits the bill better than Rice and potentially Neves too and at 25 is a good prospect in the long term. United should be warned though that Arsenal and Liverpool are both fancied more than the Reds.
