Four clubs 'monitoring' Celtic star Matt O'Riley ahead of summer bids

A trio of Spanish clubs are on the trail of Celtic star Matt O'Riley this summer, according to a report.

The midfielder has been an impressive signing for the Hoops since he joined for around £1.5million in January 2022.

The English-born player has made 74 appearances for the Scottish champions to date, scoring eight times.

The Danish U21 international has three years remaining on his deal at Parkhead.

But the Daily Mail claims that he could be the subject of some serious transfer interest this summer.

Their report states that three La Liga sides are all monitoring his situation closely.

Real Betis, Valencia and Sevilla are the trio of clubs named by the Mail, with offers reportedly ready to land in the coming days.

Premier League side Brighton are also keeping tabs on O'Riley's development in Glasgow.

The 22-year-old recently spoke upon Brendan Rodgers' arrival at Parkhead and how much he is looking forward to working with the former Leicester City and Liverpool manager.

He told Celtic TV: "So far it's been amazing. Everyone seems quite upbeat and he brings that in terms of how he goes about things.

"He's not reluctant to come and sit with us at lunch, have a chat which is quite nice. It's a nice, refreshing change in a sense to have a bit more openness about the place. I'm looking forward to that.

"It was an amazing achievement. It has sunk it but Brendan has come in already and basically told us that's done now isn't it. It's there, it's in the history books but at the same time we have another season to do it again."
