A Normal Match Doesn't Look Normal Anymore
In a single round of Override, a player can race through Green Hill Zone using Sonic's Power Sneakers, fire off Mega Man's Mega Buster, toss a Tetris Rift, punch a Cheat Code into a terminal, and race a squad to an Override Console that can rewrite the rules for everyone on the server. That isn't a handful of licensed skins sitting in the Item Shop — the crossover has moved directly into the game's actual design. Fortnite has been called gaming's ultimate crossover machine for years. Override may be the season where Epic finally turns that identity inward, celebrating the mechanics and visual language of video games rather than simply borrowing recognizable faces from them.
