Fortnite x Honkai Star Rail collab announced; splits fandom

Epic Games has teased a Fortnite x Honkai Star Rail collaboration, just a few weeks ahead of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 launch. This seemingly unexpected crossover announcement took many by surprise, especially since it wasn’t preceded by leaks or data mines, as is usually the case with Fortnite reveals.

Epic Games posted a not-so-subtle teaser image of the aforementioned crossover, with the caption, “Who’s trailblazing their way to Fortnite?” While the image in question exhibits 5-star weapons of Stellaron Hunters Kafka and Blade, it’s unclear what the full collaboration would bring.

Update February 7: Hoyoverse has confirmed that Blade and Kafka character outfits will be available in Fortnite from February 26, 2026.

This also officially makes Blade the only Hoyoverse character to appear in multiple games—Honkai Star Rail, Honkai: Nexus Anima, and now Fortnite, though fans are split over this upcoming collaboration.

As is usually the case, Fortnite’s latest high-profile crossover announcement has received mixed reactions from its community, with some questioning the odd choice of characters, while others are posting fan-made snippets of Blade and Kafka performing silly Fortnite emotes.

In Honkai Star Rail, Kafka and Blade are major antagonistic forces and core members of the Stellaron Hunters, the group that secretly drives many of the game’s major events. Kafka is a calm, confident, and psychologically intimidating anti-heroine who manipulates events from the shadows. Meanwhile, Blade is an immortal swordsman driven by revenge and self-destruction.

Both characters are also widely admired for their striking character designs and visual appeal, making them strong and recognizable choices for a HSR collaboration.

While it makes sense for Stellaron Hunters Blade and Kafka to stick together, several fans are confused as to why Hoyoverse decided to add HSR characters in the first place when Genshin Impact could have been a better alternative. Even within the HSR community, fans are more eager to see Firefly and Stelle (Female Trailblazer) in Fortnite.

The demand for everyone’s favourite Racoon to be added to Fortnite is plentiful, so much so that there’s even a bizarre clip swirling around on social media, showcasing Stelle bashing enemies with a baseball bat in a custom Fortnite game mode. Interestingly, their new English voice actor, Chloe Eves, has even reshared the official announcement on X, so this is still a possibility.

On the other hand, some Hoyoverse fans are wondering if this is a two-way collaboration. As of this writing, nothing has been confirmed for Honkai Star Rail, though some fans are already expecting Hank Hill, Jonesy, and Peely to show up. Fortunately, details about this Fortnite crossover could be revealed in the upcoming 4.0 livestream on February 6.

Given Fortnite’s absurd and complex timeline that keeps on intertwining with other popular media franchises, many fans are eager, and seemingly mocking, as to what this collaboration entails for the HSR universe.

One X user jokes about Hatsune Miku now being canon in HSR, while another argues that since they are now in Fortnite, HSR characters are just as competent as MCU and DC heroes; everything is possible near the zero point, it seems.
