A second former West Australian Liberal MP has been convicted of hindering investigations by the state's corruption watchdog.

Brian Ellis, 72, faced Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday on charges related to a Corruption and Crime Commission probe.

Court records indicate Ellis pleaded guilty to giving false or misleading evidence to the commission and wilfully obstructing the investigation.

He will be sentenced next week.

Ellis was accused of serious misconduct in 2020 following the commission's probe into the misuse of parliamentary electorate allowances.

Its report outlined a 2016 visit by Ellis to the Penthouse Club in Northbridge with former colleague Phil Edman, during which Ellis is alleged to have received a nude lap dance paid for by Edman out of his electorate allowance.

Edman earlier this month also pleaded guilty to obstructing the investigation and was handed a suspended jail term.
