Former UGA DB nabs first NFL interception, is NFL’s highest graded rookie

Georgia Bulldogs rookie cornerback Kamari Lassiter is looking like a great fit with the Houston Texans. Lassiter, who was selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft, is making the most of his opportunities as a rookie.

Lassiter recorded his first career interception on Sunday against the Chicago Bears. The former Georgia star has allowed just three receptions for 28 yards this season despite being targeted 10 times.

In fact, Pro Football Focus recently graded Lassiter as the NFL’s highest-graded rookie through Week 2. Lassiter has a PFF grade of 80.0, which is the best of any rookie in the league.

Lassiter is not graded too far ahead of former Georgia tight end Brock Bowers, who is now on the Las Vegas Raiders. Bowers has the fourth-best rookie grade at 78.4.

“Bowers already looks like a savvy veteran in the passing game and has become a favorite target of Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew,” said Gordon McGuinness of PFF.

Georgia also has the sixth-highest graded rookie in the NFL, per PFF, in Los Angeles Chargers standout wide receiver Ladd McConkey. McConkey has a PFF grade of 75.9.

Here’s a unique look at Kamari Lassiter’s first career interception:

Lassiter’s play is a big reason why the Texans are 2-0 to start the 2024 NFL season.
