The Jacksonville Jaguars started off free agency with a bang last week by adding several players to notable contracts like receiver Christian Kirk, linebacker Foyesade Oluokun, and tight end Evan Engram, to name a few. However, it appears they aren’t done looking for veteran players and at least want to take a swing at adding some more help on defense.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the team has set up a visit with a familiar face from within the division. That player is linebacker Rashaan Evans, formerly of the Tennessee Titans.

Evans, 26, is a former first-round pick for Tennessee who was selected 22nd overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. Throughout four seasons with the team that included 50 starts, he accumulated 317 combined tackles, 15 tackles for loss, three sacks, and two picks.
Things didn’t go as expected as the team declined his fifth-year option and elected not to re-sign him after last season. According to Pro Football Focus, he finished with overall grades of 65.5, 47.7, 55.1, and 44.5, respectively, over his first four seasons.
The Jags’ interest in Evans comes after the team released linebacker Myles Jack last week after adding Oluokun in free agency. That said, the Jags could be looking to add Evans to the roster on a one-year deal to come in and see if he can get his career on track with a change of scenery. If not, the Jags could at least have a good depth player at the interior linebacker position, which is also needed.
Currently, the Jags have notables like Chapelle Russell, Shaq Quarterman, and Dylan Mosses on the roster who could push to start alongside Oluokun. However, none of them has the experience that Evans has in terms of starting.
