Former Rangers kid James Maxwell has impressed Doncaster Rovers boss Gary McSheffrey during his trail period at the club as he bids to win a deal.
The 20-year-old arrived at Cantley Park last week after departing the Light Blues earlier this summer and featured in the friendlies against Spennymoor and Huddersfield Town. The youngster has previous top team experience in Scotland's second tier with Queen of the South and Ayr United.
He signed off from Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men at the beginning of last month by thanking the club for everything they had done for him while he hailed the friends for life he had made and the experiences he had gained in a social media goodbye. He's now in with English League Two outfit Doncaster as McSheffrey heaped praise on the left-back.

He admits he is one he will continue to monitor and have a chat with over the coming week hailing him as the type of player who will 'only get better."
Speaking to Doncaster Free Press, he said: “He looks quite comfortable, he understands the game.
"He's not had a big pre-season, he’s done a lot of individual training. So to come in and play 70 minutes then 66 minutes, I think he's done alright.
"I think he’s the type that will probably only get better.”
McSheffrey added: “He’s had a good start.
“As he gets fitter he looks a comfortable left-back to me. He’s one we’ll monitor and talk to over the week.”
