Former Leeds United defender Matt Kilgallon has praised Luis Sinisterra for his performance in the Whites' 3-1 win over Barnsley, but he would like to see the new signing produce that type of display against better opposition.
The Whites breezed past Barnsley in the Carabao Cup second round thanks to a stunning strike from Sinisterra and a brace from Mateusz Klich, with Mads Andersen scoring for the visitors. Leeds will travel to Molineux in the third round to face Bruno Lage's Wolves.
After suffering an injury setback during the Whites' pre-season tour of Australia, Sinisterra was making his full debut in the cup tie at Elland Road. The Colombian featured late off the bench in the draw at Southampton and in the win over Chelsea, but this was his first start for his new club.
Sinisterra opened the scoring and his Leeds account with a curling strike into the corner from 25 yards out, while he also won a penalty nine minutes later that was converted by Klich.
Kilgallon, who made 95 appearances for the Whites, believes there's a lot of excitement within the fanbase surrounding Sinisterra.
He told BBC Radio Leeds: “He’s exciting, isn’t he? And you can see that when he’s out there, he’s going to produce something. If he gets you one on one, then probably the only outcome is that he’s getting past you.
“I can understand the fans getting excited with him, but I’d like to see him against better opposition. Very exciting though and looks like he’s settled in well. He took his goal brilliantly.”
