Former Juventus chief makes Paul Pogba Manchester United transfer admission

A former Juventus chief has named Paul Pogba's transfer to Manchester United as the best bit of business he has conducted.

Beppe Marotta was Juve's CEO between 2010 and 2018. During that time he managed to negotiate a deal in 2012 to bring the now 29-year-old to Serie A before selling him back to United in 2016 for £94.5m.

According to Marotta, who is currently the CEO of Inter Milan, this remains a deal he is most proud of. Speaking to Calciomercato, he said: "The transfer market transaction that I remember with the most pleasure? Pogba.

"We took it for nothing and sold it to the same club for 110 million (Euros)."

Pogba has failed to live up to the whopping price tag United stumped up for him six years ago. His troubles domestically have not been matched on the international stage with the Frenchman lifting the World Cup in 2018.

However, with his deal set to expire at the Theatre of Dreams in the summer, Pogba is expected to be released for a second time from the Reds and has already played his last game for the club having picked up a season-ending injury at Anfield in a 4-0 defeat last month.
