Motherwell have bolstered their defensive options ahead of tomorrow night's clash with Hibernian after the capture of French defender Victor Nirennold.
The 30-year-old, who last featured for UiTM FC in the Malaysian Super League, has joined on a short-term deal until the end of the season following a training stint at Fir Park.
The defender has played under Motherwell boss Graham Alexander before having been signed by him at Fleetwood Town in 2015, while Nirrennold also has experience in his homeland with Stade Rennais as a youth player.
After snapping up Nirrenold, who can play at centre-back, right-back or right midfield, Alexander told the club website: “Victor gives us added competition down the right hand side of our team.
“He has attributes that will fit in to how we play, and a character that his team mates will appreciate.
“We’re happy to have him here with us and look forward to working with him again.”
A towering presence at 6ft 4in, Nirrenold's career has also taken him to the United States with FC Miami City and to Vietnam with SHB Da Nang Football Club.
Earlier today Alexander said at his press conference previewing the Hibs clash that he was seeking to bolster his defensive options, and Nirrennold could make his debut when Hibernian come calling tomorrow.
