Former Eurobodalla Shire mayor, Liz Innes, has pleaded guilty to cultivating and possessing cannabis after a discovery by police at her New South Wales South Coast property.
The 54-year-old entered her plea at Moruya Local Court on Friday February 10.
Police facts tendered to the court state officers were patrolling Runnyford, west of Batemans Bay, when they came across a large plot of plants they suspected to be cannabis near a house later identified as Innes's home.
A female, later identified as Innes, exited the house and told the officers who approached "they are mine".
Police observed "a copious amount of healthy cannabis plants in various stages of maturity" that were planted in pots, garden beds and a tree stump.
The police documents state Innes was "annoyed and belligerent" when speaking to authorities and at one point said she was the former mayor of Eurobodalla Shire Council.
Authorities seized almost 80 plants that ranged from 30 centimetres to two metres in size.
They were estimated to be worth between $129,000 and $258,400,
The court documents stated that Innes became "much more courteous and polite" once police began removing the plants.
The agreed facts said Innes commented on "how good a job she had done growing the plants".
She also said she had planted, watered and cared for the plants and intended on harvesting them for herself and her family to use.
Police stated they were of the firm belief that the amount of plants in Innes's possession were excessive for personal use.
Police requested an order for the destruction of the seized prohibited plants.
Innes will face Batemans Bay Local Court on February 27 for sentencing.
