Former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas has reportedly signed up for the next series of hit Channel 4 show Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
The 38-year-old actor, who played Jason Grimshaw on the cobbles between 2000 and 2016, is set to face one of the toughest assignments of his career when he takes on the gruelling course in the next series, which will air in 2023.
The current series, which airs at 9pm on Sunday evenings, has seen 14 celebrities such as former Olympic champion Fatima Whitbread, reality TV stars Ferne McCann and Pete Wicks, professional dancers AJ and Curtis Pritchard and Paralympic gold medallist Jonathan Broom-Edwards take on tasks including jumping out of a helicopter and abseiling down a sheer cliff face in the Jordan desert.
Their physical and mental capabilities will be tested to the maximum by former Unites States Recon Marine and new chief instructor Rudy Reyes, fellow American and new directing staff Remi Adeleke alongside former special forces soldiers Mark Billingham and Jason Fox.
A source told The Sun : "Ryan didn't have to think twice when he was asked. He loves pushing himself and taking on tough tasks.
"He knows it will be extremely challenging, but he is determined to see it through. He knows his brothers Scott and Adam won't let him live it down if he drops out early."
It will not be the first time that Ryan has appeared on a survival show on Channel 4, having starred on Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls in 2017. On the show, he met former The Only Way Is Essex star and partner Lucy Mecklenburgh and the couple share two children together.
It appears Channel 4 have a host of celebrities lined up for the next series with Matt Hancock reportedly asked to sign up. The former Health Secretary, 43, is said to have been asked to take part during a meeting with producers, making him the first serving MP to have been approached about appearing on the show.
It is claimed that he is hoping the show will portray him in a new light after his affair with his aide Gina Coladangelo.
A spokesman for Mr Hancock told The Mirror: "Matt gets a huge number of offers and is asked to appear on TV shows all the time but he has not signed up to anything."
Former TOWIE star James 'Arg' Argent is also said to have signed up for the new series after losing a whopping 14 stone since having gastric band surgery last year.
