Former Boston Celtics two-way player Matt Ryan has found a home with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. There had been some optimism the sharpshooting wing might compete in the Celtics’ 2022 training camp for a regular roster spot after he spent the latter part of the 2021-22 season with the team in a two-way slot.
Ryan, who played collegiately for Notre Dame, Vanderbilt and Chattanooga, was signed by the Celtics late last season after going unselected in the 2020 NBA draft. The White Plains native averaged 12.1 points, 2 rebounds and an assist per game with the Maine Celtics while shooting 38% from beyond the arc.
However, success did not come as easily for Ryan at the next level. The New Yorker played one game with the parent club last season, and he hit just one of his five 3-point attempts to go with a steal.

The former Celtics wing will likely get more of an opportunity with the wing and shooting-starved Lakers, who need to find help at forward that can space the floor.
