He was signed by Neil Lennon in 2010 from Scunthorpe United for a fee of £2.4 million.

The forward secured a move to Norwich City in 2013 for a fee believed to be around £5 million, before going on to play in various different leagues and countries, including Sheffield Wednesday, Indian club Kerala Blasters, Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand, Gulf United in UAE and Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus where he was reunited with former boss Neil Lennon.

Most recently, Hooper had a spell at Barnet in the English National League before becoming a free agent in the summer.

At Kettering Town he will add to an experienced forward line along with former Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger.
