Former Celtic defender Jack Hendry completes deadline day transfer as he switches to Serie A

Former Celtic star Jack Hendry has found a new club.

The Scotland international has left Club Brugge on a loan deal as he tests himself in Italy. He's made the temporary switch to US Cremonese with the Italian club holding a redemption option for the ex-Hoops stopper.

The 27-year-old was expected to depart the club following the arrival of another former Celtic defender in the shape of Dedryck Boyata at Brugge. Hendry faces a big challenge at his new club who have lost all four of their opening Serie A games. His new employers will hope he can help steady the ship and get much needed points on the board.

A club statement read : "US Cremonese announces that it has acquired on a temporary basis with a redemption option from Club Brugge the right to the sports performance of the player Jack Hendry. Born in Glasgow on 7 May 1995, the Scottish defender who grew up in Partick Thistle over the course of his career has gained significant experience in Scotland, where he wore, among others, the jerseys of Dundee and Celtic, and in Belgium with Oostende and Club Brugge.

"With Brugge last season he also collected 6 appearances in the Champions League, a competition that had already seen him protagonist in the qualifying phase at the time of Celtic. With Scotland Hendry has so far played 17 games scoring twice (against the Netherlands and Austria)."

Cremonese are in action this coming Sunday against Sassulo but the game may come to soon for the Scotland international.

It's then Atalanta and Lazio before the international break where Hendry will hope this move will help him get minutes under Steve Clarke.
